Owen informed us about the proposed Wisconsin Biennium Budget, which if passed will have a $150 per pupil cut on K-12 public school funding, taxpayer subsidies for private school vouchers, $300 million cut to the UW system, $5 million cut to public broadcasting, and changes to SeniorCare, long-term care programs, and the Aging and Disability Resource Centers.  He encouraged all members to find the links to their legislators on the WREA website to voice your opposition or support for these proposed changes.  He shared the WREA opposes the proposed cuts which could lead to college tuition increases and potential closing of several rural schools throughout the state.
